This modern solution has been widely used for years in many laboratories in Europe, especially in places where it is difficult to run installations from the wall or floor, and the laboratories have an industrial character.
Running utilities from the ceiling is then a very simple and less expensive way of supplying the required media to the laboratory workstation. In the case of open or suspended ceilings, the media are fed into the ceiling space and then distributed around the laboratory to the places where the media bridges are installed.
This applies in particular to the electrical installation and various types of gas installation. The media bridges located above the tables, especially the island tables, allow the use of a large number of utilities while leaving the table tops free for work.
